Melanoleuca subresplendens Murrill, sp. nov
Pileus fleshy, convex, solitary, 8.5 cm. broad; surface smooth, glabrous, milk-white, slightly viscid when moist, not at all silky, margin distinctly lobed, concolorous ; context white, with farinaceous taste and odor ; lamellae plane in mass, sinuate, crowded, rather broad, uneven on the edges, pallid, becoming avellaneous or subf uliginous on drying; spores ellipsoid, smooth, hyaline, 6-7 X 4-5 m ; stipe slightly tapering downward, smooth, glabrous, whitish but not shining, solid with a fibrous rind, not at all bulbous, 7 cm. long, 1.3-2 cm. thick.
