Suffrutices or small shrubs. Inflorescence of axillary cymes or solitary. Calyx actinomorphic, 5-lobed. Corolla distinctly 2-lipped; upper lip 2-lobed; lower lip 3-lobed. Fertile stamens 4, didynamous. Capsule cylindric. Seeds bearing hygroscopic hairs; seeds 2 per loculus.

Dyschoriste is a genus of flowering plants in the family Acanthaceae. Members of the genus are commonly known as snakeherb.^[2]

Etymology

The name comes from the Greek δυσ, poorly, and χωριστός, to split, in reference to the slightly lobed stigma.^[3]
