Perennial glabrous herb, growing from a woody rootstock. Stems hairless, erect up to 15 cm high or prostrate up to 50 cm long, sometimes with both prostrate and erect shoots; tendrils absent. Leaves simple, alternate, overlapping, grey-green, thinly fleshy. Leaves on prostate stems almost round, 0.7-2.5 cm in diameter, cordate at the base; leaves on erect stems ovate to oblong-lanceolate, 0.75-2 cm. long; margin entire or with minute teeth near the base. Flowers solitary or 2 together, small, whitish with outer corona blue, petals absent. Fruit a capsule, c. 1 cm long.
