Stem and branches decumbent or reclining, mostly 1 m. long or less, hirsute; leafblades ovate to oblong-ovate, 1.5-3.5 cm. long, acute or acutish, bright-green, but paler beneath than above, with scattered hairs on both surfaces, or glabrate above, subcordate or cordate at the base, short-petioled ; petaliferous flowers sparingly clustered at the ends of the branches; sepals narrowly ovate, 3-3.5 mm. long, the glands about one half as long as the sepal-body ; larger petals 9-10 mm. long ; cleistogamous flowers long-peduncled ; nutlets 5-6 mm. long, the median ridge sharp, nearly even, the lateral angles unevenly margined, the faces finely wrinkled.
Type locality : Described from cultivated material of Mexican origin.
Distribution : Mexico.
