Perennial, with a rootstock ; stems 0.5-3.5 dm. high, glabrous or somewhat pubescent below with appressed hairs ; basal leaves petioled ; petioles 0.5-2 dm. long, appressedpubescent ; leaf-blades 2.5-10 cm. wide, light-green, somewhat yellowish, 9or rarely 11-lobed, suborbicular with nearly central petioles, glabrous or nearly so above, appressed-pubescent on the nerves and near the petioles beneath, teeth numerous ; stemleaves subsessile ; stipules rather small ; leaf-blades semicircular or rounded-reniform, more deeply lobed, often with broadly triangular lobes ; inflorescence rather dense ; flowers in small glomerules, yellowish; hypanthium 1.5 mm. long, glabrous, obconic or in fruit more turbinate; sepals 1.5 mm. long, triangular-ovate, acute; bractlets lanceolate, two thirds to three fourths as long.
Type locality : Quick jock, Lule Lapmark, Sweden. Distribution : L^apland, Iceland, East Greenland.
