Dryophytes walkeri (Stuart 1954)

Walker's tree frog (Dryophytes walkeri) is a species of frog in the family Hylidae found in Guatemala and Mexico. Its natural habitats are highlands of pine-oak forests and pine-fir forests. It is known to occur in Chiapas Mexico and in parts of Guatemala including the Sierra de los Cuchumatanes mountain range in the west, the plateaus of central Guatemala, and in southeastern Guatemala.^[2][3] However, it is believed that its range is greater than what is currently known.^[2] It breeds in temporary ponds, and is threatened by habitat loss.^[2]

It is also found in subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, subtropical or tropical seasonally wet or flooded lowland grassland, and intermittent freshwater marshes.

Dryophytes walkeri est une espèce d'amphibiens de la famille des Hylidae^[1].

Répartition

Cette espèce se rencontre entre 1 450 et 2 340 m d'altitude^[1],[2] :

• au Mexique dans les montagnes du centre du Chiapas ;
• dans le sud-est du Guatemala, dans l'Ouest dans la Sierra de Cuchumatanes dans les départements du Quiché et de Huehuetenango, dans le plateau central dans le département d'Alta Verapaz et dans l'Est dans le département de Jalapa.

Étymologie

Cette espèce est nommée en l'honneur de Charles Frederic Walker^[3].
