Conus fumigatus, common name the smoky cone, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Conidae, the cone snails and their allies.[1]
Like all species within the genus Conus, these snails are predatory and venomous. They are capable of "stinging" humans, therefore live ones should be handled carefully or not at all.
The size of the shell varies between 30 mm and 69 mm.
This species occurs in the Red Sea off Ethiopia; in the Libyan part of the Mediterranean Sea (as an introduced species).

Conus fumigatus is een in zee levende slakkensoort uit het geslacht Conus. De slak behoort tot de familie Conidae. Conus fumigatus werd in 1792 beschreven door Hwass in Bruguière.[1] Net zoals alle soorten binnen het geslacht Conus zijn deze slakken roofzuchtig en giftig. Zij bezitten een harpoenachtige structuur waarmee ze hun prooi kunnen steken en verlammen.[2]
