Atimastillas flavicollis (Swainson 1837)

Atimastillas flavicollis és un ocell de la família dels picnonòtids (Pycnonotidae) i única espècie del gènere Atimastillas. Habita boscos i matolls des de Senegal, Gàmbia, Guinea i Sierra Leone cap a l'est fins a Camerun, República Centreafricana, est de Sudan del Sud i oest d'Etiòpia, i cap al sud fins al nord d'Angola i Zàmbia.

The yellow-throated leaflove (Atimastillas flavicollis) is a species of leaflove in the bulbul family of passerine birds. It is the only species of the monotypic genus Atimastillas. The yellow-throated leaflove is found in western and central Africa. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, moist savanna, and subtropical or tropical moist shrubland.

Taxonomy and systematics

The yellow-throated leaflove was originally described in the genus Haematornis (a synonym for Pycnonotus) and later classified within Chlorocichla before being moved to the genus Atimastillas in 2010.^[2] Not all authorities have adopted this latest genus change. Formerly, various authorities have classified the yellow-throated leaflove in several other genera, including Criniger, Ixus and Xenocichla (a synonym for Bleda).^[3] Alternatively, some authorities have classified the yellow-throated leaflove as synonymous with the yellow-throated greenbul.^[4] Alternate names for the yellow-throated leaflove include the mango bulbul, yellowthroat and yellow-throated greenbul. The alternate name 'yellowthroat' is not to be confused with the species of the genus Geothlypis.

Subspecies

Three subspecies are recognized:^[5]

• A. f. flavicollis - (Swainson, 1837): Found from Senegal and Gambia to northern Cameroon and north-western Central African Republic
• Bosum yellow-throated greenbul (A. f. soror) - (Neumann, 1914): Also named the Congo white-throated leaflove. Found from central Cameroon to west-central Ethiopia and central Democratic Republic of the Congo
• Uganda yellow-throated greenbul (A. f. flavigula) - (Cabanis, 1880): Originally described as a separate species in the genus Trichophorus (a synonym for Criniger) and Xenocichla (a synonym for Bleda). Found from Angola, south-eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo to Uganda, western Kenya and western Tanzania

El bulbul gorgiamarillo (Atimastillas flavicollis) es una especie de ave paseriforme de la familia Pycnonotidae propia de África Central y Occidental. Es la única especie del género Atimastillas.

Taxonomía

El bulbul gorgiamarillo fue descrito científicamente por el naturalista inglés William John Swainson en 1837, y clasificado en el género Haematornis (un sinónimo obsoleto de Pycnonotus). Posteriormente fue trasladado al género Chlorocichla, finalmente se trasladó al género Atimastillas en 2010.^[2]​

Se reconocen tres subespecies:^[3]​

• A. f. flavicollis - (Swainson, 1837): está presente desde Senegal y Gambia al norte de Camerún y el noroeste de la República Centroafricana;
• A. f. soror - (Neumann, 1914): Se extiende desde el centro de Camerún por la República Democrática del Congo;
• A. f. flavigula - (Cabanis, 1880): originalmente descrita como una especie separada en el géneros Trichophorus (un sinónimo de Criniger). Se encuentra en Angola, el sureste de la República Democrática del Congo hasta Uganda, el oeste de Kenia y Tanzania.

Habitat

Son habitat naturel est les forêts sèches, les savanes et zones de broussailles humides subtropicales ou tropicales.

• Atimastillas flavicollis flavigula (Cabanis) 1880 ;

Vogels

De geelkraagbuulbuul (Atimastillas flavicollis, synoniem: Chlorocichla flavicollis) is een zangvogel uit de familie van de buulbuuls en het monotypische geslacht Atimastillas. De geelkraagbuulbuul komt vooral voor in een West- en Midden-Afrika ten zuiden van de Sahara.

Kenmerken

De geelkraagbuulbuul is 25 cm lang. Het een overwegend olijfbruin gekleurde buulbuul, van boven donkerder dan op de buik en borst. Zeer opvallend is een duidelijk afgegrensde heldergele vlek op de keel. De snavel is donkergrijs en de iris is grijs tot licht roodbruin, bij het vrouwtje iets lichter.^[2]

Verspreiding en leefgebied

De geelkraagbuulbuul leeft in gebieden met dicht struikgewas, bijvoorbeeld langs waterlopen, maar ook aan de rand van bossen. Er worden drie ondersoorten onderscheiden:^[3]

• A. f. flavicollis (Senegal en Gambia tot in het noorden van Kameroen en de Centraal Afrikaanse Republiek)
• A. f. soror (Midden-Kameroen tot Ethiopië het noorden van het Kongogebied)
• A. f. flavigula (Angola, het zuiden van het Kongogebied, Oeganda, West-Kenia en West-Tanzania)

Status

De geelkraagbuulbuul heeft een groot verspreidingsgebied waardoor de kans op de status kwetsbaar (voor uitsterven) uiterst gering is. De grootte van de populatie is niet gekwantificeerd, maar de vogel is plaatselijk algemeen, daarom staat deze buulbuul als niet bedreigd op de Rode Lijst van de IUCN.^[1]

Sedan 2016 urskiljer Birdlife International och naturvårdsunionen IUCN flavigula som den egna arten "blekstrupig grönbulbyl". Därmed hotkategoriseras de var för sig, båda som livskraftiga.^[1]
