Lifespan, longevity, and ageing

Observations: Little is known about the longevity of these animals. They have been reported to live up to 7 years in the wild (Clapp et al. 1982), yet considering the longevity of similar species maximum longevity could be significantly underestimated. In addition, one study estimated an annual mortality of 7%, suggesting some animals may live 30-35 years and possibly longer (http://bna.birds.cornell.edu/).
