Batozonellus ist eine Gattung der Wegwespen (Pompilidae). In Europa tritt nur eine Art, Batozonellus lacerticida (Pallas, 1771), auf.[1]
Bei den Arten der Gattung Batozonellus handelt es sich um große bis sehr große, schwarze und gelbe Wegwespen. Der Kopf und große Teile des Thorax sind mit zwei Arten von Haaren versehen. Die einen sind kurz, anliegend und seidig, die anderen sind länger und aufgerichtet. Das Propodeum hat neben den langen Haaren auch einen kurzen, wolligen Flaum. Die Facettenaugen sind groß und unten schwach divergierend. Die konvexe Stirnplatte (Clypeus) ist kurz und breit. Das Propodeum ist nach hinten zunehmend gekrümmt. Die Flügel sind gelb. Die Spitze der Vorderflügel hat ein bräunliches Band. Das Flügelmal (Pterostigma) ist ziemlich klein. Die Schienen (Tibien) haben lange Dorne. Bei den Weibchen ist der Tarsalkamm gut ausgebildet. Die Klauen sind langgestreckt und bei den Männchen bifid, bei den Weibchen sind es die der Vorderbeine, die der mittleren und hinteren Beine sind gezähnt.[2]
Die Wespen besiedeln vorwiegend offene Lebensräume und Waldränder. Die Weibchen graben ihre Nester im Boden. Die Larven werden mit Spinnen der Familie Araneidae versorgt.[2]

Some species formerly placed within the genus Batozonellus have been assigned to the genus Parabatozonus by some authorities, including the type species of the genus, Batozonellus fuliginosus. If this classification is to be followed then a new type species will have to be designated for Batozonellus. The species reclassified under Parabatozonus are:[4]
These wasps can be found in most of Europe.[5] They colonize predominantly open habitats and forest edges. Under newer studies the genus Batozonellus sensu stricto is found only in Africa and Australia, and Parabatozonus is found in Europe, Asia and Africa.[3][4]

Отличаются оранжевой окраской крыльев с темной вершинной каймой. Тело чёрное с жёлтыми пятнами. Коготки расщеплённые (у самок передние, у самцов все). Охотятся и откладывают яйца на пауков, которых парализуют с помощью жала. Личинки эктопаразитоиды пауков. Основание усиков расположено ближе к наличнику, чем к глазку. Коготки равномерно изогнутые. Вершина средней и задней голеней помимо шпор несёт шипы разной длины. Верх задних бедер с 1-5 предвершинными короткими прижатыми шипиками[3].
