Semele est monotypicum plantarum florentium genus, in Canariae Insulae et Insulae Materiae endemicum[2] Genus per APG III classificationis systema in subfamiliam Nolinoidearum (olim Ruscacearum) familiae Asparagacearum digeritur.[3]
