Nymphargus posadae (Ruiz-Carranza & Lynch 1995)

Nymphargus posadae is a species of frog in the family Centrolenidae, formerly placed in Cochranella. It inhabits the eastern slopes of the Andes of Colombia, Ecuador, and northeastern Peru.^[2] It is reasonably common in Colombia but rare in Ecuador.^[1]

Description

Male Nymphargus posadae grow to a snout–vent length of 31–34 mm (1.2–1.3 in) and females to 30–33 mm (1.2–1.3 in). The dorsum is green with small greenish-white warts. Webbing is very reduced between the fingers and moderate between the toes.^[3]

Habitat

The natural habitats of Nymphargus posadae are vegetation alongside streams in sub-Andean and Andean forests. They lay their eggs on leaves over-hanging water. When the eggs hatch, the tadpoles drop into the water below where they develop further. A permanent source of water is required for reproduction. This species is threatened by habitat loss caused by agricultural expansion, timber extraction, and water pollution.^[1]

Distribución geográfica

Esta especie habita entre los 1100 y 2800 m de altitud:

• en Colombia, en los departamentos de Caldas, Huila y Cauca, en la vertiente oriental de la Cordillera Central;
• en Ecuador, en las provincias de Sucumbíos, Napo y Zamora-Chinchipe en la vertiente oriental de la Cordillera Oriental;
• en Perú, en la provincia de Condorcanqui, en la región de Amazonas, en el lado suroeste de la Cordillera del Cóndor.^[4]​

Descripción

Los machos miden de 32.7 a 34.1 mm y las hembras de 30.2 a 33.3 mm.

Répartition

Cette espèce se rencontre de 1 100 à 2 800 m d'altitude^[1] :

• en Colombie dans les départements de Caldas, de Huila et de Cauca sur le versant Est de la cordillère Centrale ;
• en Équateur dans les provinces de Sucumbíos, de Napo et de Zamora-Chinchipe sur le versant Est de la cordillère Orientale ;

Description

Les mâles mesurent de 32,7 à 34,1 mm et les femelles de 30,2 à 33,3 mm^[2].
