This species was first described by Hutchings & Peart (2000): pp. 228-231, figs. 1b, 2, 4a-d. They include a table contrasting the diagnostic characters of currently known members of the genus Artacamella(table 1) and a distributional map (fig. 2).
Artacamella torulosa is een borstelworm uit de familie Trichobranchidae. Het lichaam van de worm bestaat uit een kop, een cilindrisch, gesegmenteerd lichaam en een staartstukje. De kop bestaat uit een prostomium (gedeelte voor de mondopening) en een peristomium (gedeelte rond de mond) en draagt gepaarde aanhangsels (palpen, antennen en cirri).
Artacamella torulosa werd in 2000 voor het eerst wetenschappelijk beschreven door Hutchings & Peart.
