Small (12-16 µm) flagellates with four long apical flagella. Single nucleus, body surface ridged. Massive dictyosomal complex (parabasal apparatus) is located in the anterior part of the cell. Reported from the guts of Australian, North American and European amphibia. Several species; Type species:Karotomorpha bufonis (Alexeieff, 1916) described from anuran amphibia (Triton, Rana, Amblystoma).
