Marine shelled amoeba, about 70 µm long. Shell composed of fine particles, ovate, but with truncated narrow end occupied by the single aperture from which arise fine pseudopodia which may branch and fuse.

Pleurophrys es un género de foraminífero bentónico de la subfamilia Allogromiinae, de la familia Allogromiidae, del suborden Allogromiina[1]​ y del orden Allogromiida.[2]​ Su especie tipo es Pleurophrys sphaerica. Su rango cronoestratigráfico abarca el Holoceno.
