Michener (1969) describes a few nests found in sand in Kommetjie, Cape Peninsula, Cape Province, South Africa. Burrows were 16-18 cm deep, with cells oriented horizontally and attached to the vertical burrow without lateral connecting burrows. The nests each contained only one adult female, but because they were collected in Spring (November) it is not known whether the would have later developed into colonies.
