Stromata numerous, as many as thirty often springing from a single sclerotium, very slender and thread-like, about 5 cm. high and 1 mm. in thickness, cinereous, smooth or slightly pruinose, enlarged at the base, more or less bent above ; perithecia subsuperficial, subconic, 125-150 X 200-225 /«, brownish ; asci elongate, cylindric ; spores filiform, as long as the ascus, about 2 i thick.
On dead larvae in cocoon.
Type locality : North Carolina.
Distribution : New Jersey to North Carolina.
