Phacelia fremontii Torr. Flower colors range from lavender as here to violet-blue to what is sometimes described as "sky blue." Yellow floral tube. Leaves are pinnately lobed with rounded segments. Only occurs in Utah in Washington Canyon (but fairly widespread there). As an annual, its frequency greatly wanes from year to year depending on precipitation. Grows typically in leaf litter under taller plants; here growing in/adjacent to petrified wood.March 27, 2004, Zion National Park, Petrified Forest area, elev. 4000-4100 ft.
