Tilletia cerebrina Ellis & Ev. Jour. Myc. 3 : 56. 1887
Sori in ovaries, ovoid, 1-2 mm. in length, showing somewhat through the glumes ; sterile cells hyaline, smaller than the spores, with medium thick walls ; spores rather dark reddish-brown, chiefly ovoid to spherical, with prominent polygonal or irregularly elongate or even cerebriform reticulations often ending in free ridges and at circumference showing as projections (1-2.5 /i, extending out to enveloping membrane), chiefly 24-30 /^ in length.
