Zygotritonia is a genus of herbaceous, perennial and bulbous plants in the family Iridaceae. It contains four species distributed throughout sub-Saharan Africa.[2][3] The genus name is derived from the word zygomorphic (meaning bilabiate), and the apparent resemblance to some species in the genus Tritonia.[4]

Taxonomía

El género fue descrito por Gottfried Wilhelm Johannes Mildbraed y publicado en Botanische Jahrbücher für Systematik, Pflanzengeschichte und Pflanzengeographie 58: 230. 1923.[1]​

Etimología

Zygotritonia: nombre genérico compuesto que deriva de la palabra zygomorphica que significa "bilabiada", y la aparente semejanza con algunas especies del género Tritonia.[2]​
