This water plant originates in South Africa, the leaves are edible and sold there in the markets. The unique flowers and leaves float.I do not know much aobut it, other than it is underwater except for the floating inflorescences and leaves. It grows in winter-rain areas of South Africa. In ponds that dry our in summertime, its tubers will sprout again after rain return. Aponogetonaceae is regarded as relatively primitive of the plant families.
