Identified by the finger-like separate first rays of the ventral fins, and distinguished from the similar D. kuiteri in usually having 8 divided rays in the second dorsal fin (versus 9), the fin with a distinct horizontal pattern of lines in adults, and males have long filaments on the first dorsal fin (versus short or absent) (Ref. 48636). Body moderately depressed. Preopercular spine with processes on both inner and outer sides. Pelvic spine and 1st pelvic ray fused into an elongate rod, separated from the other pelvic rays. Attains 10 cm SL.

體延長,稍縱扁,頭縱扁。鰓孔位在體側稍上。前鰓蓋骨強棘其背緣具2-5個小倒棘,腹緣具2-4個倒棘。側線延伸至尾鰭鰭條末端,在枕骨區具一橫向側線將兩側側線相連。雄魚第I至第III背鰭棘延長,背鰭軟條全部分叉;腹鰭硬棘及第1鰭條與其餘鰭條分離,第1鰭條延長。保存標本體呈棕色,具白斑,背部深棕,腹部白色;第一背鰭具深棕色條紋及一黑斑;第二背鰭具白斑及深棕色水平條紋;臀鰭黑色具藍斑;尾鰭上1/3部分具黑斜紋,下半部具白色或淡藍色斑。

Dactylopus dactylopus, known commonly as the Fingered dragonet, is a species of marine fish in the family Callionymidae.

The Fingered dragonet is widespread throughout the tropical waters of the central Indo-Pacific region from Indonesia to Palau Islands.[1]

It is found at depths of from 1 to 55 metres (3.3 to 180.4 ft) and prefers sandy or muddy substrates, often with weed growth.[2]

This species reaches a length of 30 centimetres (12 in) TL.[3]

This species can be found in the aquarium trade.[4]
