體延長而呈長橢圓形，側扁；兩眼均在右側，兩眼相接或幾相連。吻短於眼徑。口小，傾斜；上頜達眼前緣之下方；齒成窄帶狀，上下頜齒2列，盲側下頜齒發達，眼側微小或無。鼻腔內具一短中軸，鼻嗅葉由此輻射伸出；眼眶上無鬚。眼側被強櫛鱗，盲側被圓鱗；僅眼側具側線，鱗數90-98，盲側側線不發達。背鰭起點在上眼中部上方，軟條數59-62；臀鰭軟條數50；兩側均具胸鰭，眼側者較盲側長；尾鰭尖圓形。體黃褐色，體側背、腹緣各有6-7個黑斑組成一列，中央有2列大方形斑，奇鰭淺褐色，末稍灰色；盲側乳黃色，有時具小黑斑。

長體瓦鰈（学名：Poecilopsetta praelonga），又名長吻瓦鰈;扁魚、皇帝魚、半邊魚、比目魚，为輻鰭魚綱鰈形目鰈亞目瓦鰈科瓦鰈屬下的一个种，分布於印度西太平洋區，包括印度、斯里蘭卡、印尼、台灣、中國、澳洲西北部海域，棲息深度216-714公尺，棲息深度17.5公分，棲息在底層水域，以底棲生物為食，生活習性不明。
