Eriphioidea MacLeay 1838

Eriphioidea is a superfamily of crabs, containing the six families Dairoididae, Eriphiidae, Hypothalassiidae, Menippidae, Oziidae and Platyxanthidae.^[1] They are united by a number of characters, including a marked difference in size between the left and right claws, where the larger one has a crushing tooth, and the smaller one does not, and the relative breadth of the male abdomen.^[1]

Los Eriphioidea son una superfamilia de crustáceos de la clase malacostraca y del infraorden brachyura, se compone de 6 familias: Dairoidiae, Eriphiidae, Hypothalassiidae, Menippidae, Oziidae y Platyxanthidae.^[1]​

Este taxón agrupa un gran número de caracteres presentes en los individuos, entre los cuales se hallan las marcadas diferencias de tamaño entre la quela derecha e izquierda, donde la más grande posee una protuberancia similar a la de un diente; otra diferencia es el ancho del abdomen del macho.^[2]​
