Das Oberitalienische Neunauge (Lethenteron zanandreai), auch Oberitalienisches Bachneunauge genannt, ist eine Art aus der Familie der Neunaugen. Das Verbreitungsgebiet dieses Neunauges ist ein verhältnismäßig kleines Gebiet vom Südrand der Alpen bis zum Po. Es bewohnt ausschließlich die linken Zuflüsse des Pos.
Das Oberitalienische Neunauge weist die typische Gestalt von Neunaugen auf. Der Körper ist aalförmig. Ihm fehlen paarige Flossen, dagegen ist die Rückenflosse bei geschlechtsreifen Tieren durchgehend. Es verfügt über einen runden Saugmund und weist sieben Kiemenöffnungen hinter dem Auge auf. Das Oberitalienische Neunauge wird nicht größer als 19 Zentimeter und bleibt bleistiftdünn.
In seiner Lebensweise weist das Oberitalienische Neunauge sehr viel Gemeinsamkeiten mit dem Bachneunauge auf, obwohl dieses zu einer anderen Gattung gerechnet wird. Das Oberitalienische Neunauge galt sogar eine Zeit lang als eine Unterart dieser Neunaugenart. Anders als das Bachneunauge findet sich das Oberitalienische Neunauge überwiegend in Quellgewässern. Es handelt sich aber wie beim Bachneunauge um eine stationäre Süßwasserform, die anders als beispielsweise das Fluss- oder das Meerneunauge, nicht nach dem Larvenstadium ins Meer wandern. Im Larvenstadium ernähren sich die Oberitalienischen Neunaugen von Kleinorganismen, die sie aus dem Wasser herausfiltern. Oberitalienische Neunaugen nehmen nach der Umwandlung zum erwachsenen Tier keine Nahrung mehr auf. Während der Metamorphose wird bereits der Darm zurückgebildet.
Beim weiblichen Oberitalienischen Neunauge tritt gelegentlich Neotenie auf, d. h. die Querder sind laichreif, ohne eine Umwandlung zum adulten Neunauge durchlaufen zu haben.[1]
Das Oberitalienische Neunauge wird von der Europäischen Union im Anhang II der FFH-Richtlinie geführt und gilt damit Art von gemeinschaftlichem Interesse, für deren Erhaltung von den Mitgliedsstaaten besondere Schutzgebiete ausgewiesen werden müssen.

La lampreda padana (Lethenteron zanandreai (Vladykov, 1955)) è una specie di agnato, appartenente alla famiglia Petromyzontidae.
Il corpo è cilindrico affusolato, lungo al massimo 17 cm. La pelle ha una colorazione bluastra, brunastra - scura, verde - grigiastra dorsalmente, con sfumature giallastre sui fianchi; biancastra ventralmente. La cavità orale ha pochi denti labiali ottusi disposti in gruppi: 5 denti sulla piastra nella parte inferiore dell'apertura boccale, 2 denti sulla piastra laterale mediana. La pinna caudale è saldata con la seconda dorsale, più estesa ventralmente che dorsalmente.
L'area di distribuzione di Lethenteron zanandreai è limitata ai bacini fluviali del nord Adriatico. La specie è presente in Svizzera meridionale, Italia settentrionale, nei bacini adriatici di Slovenia e Croazia (fiumi Narenta e Matica). In Italia è diffusa prevalentemente nella Pianura Padana (nel bacino idrografico del Po) e nel Friuli-Venezia Giulia; due sottopopolazioni sono state rinvenute in Italia Centrale, nei bacini dei fiumi Esino e Potenza.
Le larve, detritivore e filtratrici, colonizzano i substrati sabbiosi e fangosi. Gli adulti vivono nei tratti più a monte con substrato ghiaioso.
La lampreda padana, a differenza delle altre lamprede, non è un parassita degli altri pesci e trascorre tutta la sua vita in acque dolci, non migrando mai verso il mare.
Svolge, pertanto, l'intero ciclo biologico nelle acque dolci, tipicamente nei tratti medio-alti dei corsi d'acqua e delle risorgive.
La riproduzione avviene da gennaio alla tarda primavera ed è preceduta da piccole migrazioni degli adulti verso corsi d'acqua con corrente vivace e fondale ghiaioso.
La femmina depone le uova (fino a 1500-2000) in una cavità nel fango che si schiudono dopo circa tre settimane.
Le larve alla nascita e nei primi anni di vita sono cieche e prive di denti. Dopo 4-5 anni vanno incontro a metamorfosi nella forma adulta: compaiono gli occhi e la dentatura e nello stesso tempo degenera l'apparato intestinale. Da questo momento non si nutrono più, dedicando tutto il resto della loro breve vita da adulto alla riproduzione.
La convenzione di Berna (Appendice II) annovera Lethenteron zanandreai tra la fauna protetta.

Laški potočni piškur ni zajedavska vrsta, saj se odrasle živali ne hranijo. Zadržuje se v hladnih potokih in rekah s peščeno podlago, v kateri se od 3 do 5 let skrivajo ličinke, ki so običajno kakšen centimeter daljše od odrasle živali in, ki se hranijo z algami in drobirjem, ki ga precejajo iz mulja[1]. Po preobrazbi, ki traja od 1 do 2 meseca, se odrasle živali, ki zrastejo do 19 cm v dolžino, en poletni mesec drstijo. Samice v posebna gnezda, ki jih v prodnata tla izkoplje samec odložijo okoli 2000 iker s premerom med 0,9 in 1,1 mm, nato pa poginejo[1].
Ličinke so podobne odraslim živalim. So kačaste oblike in imajo na hrbtu dve ločeni plavuti, ki se pri odraslih osebkih stikata. Druga hrbtna plavut prehaja v repno. Hrbet je sive barve, boki in trebuh pa so srebrnkaste barve. Pred drstjo postane hrbet modro črne barve. Hrbtni plavuti sta rumenkaste barve, enake barve je tudi prisesek[1].
