Flagella are found on the rostrum and over almost all the surface of the cell. In the rostrum, the two flagellar areas are juxtaposed, not separated by broad bands of ectoplasm. Parabasal fibres are associated in two plates to form the rostral tube. Longitudinal rows of flagella are separated by lanes of ectoplasm. One set of privileged basal bodies, independent from those of the flagellar areas; atractophores present or absent in interphasic cells; they form at division. Dictyosomes are supported by parabasal fibres or free in the cytoplasm.
