Resident in patchy distribution in the western United States (Scott 1986). Habitats are coast ranges chaparral to Hudsonian zone, often in sandy or gravelly areas. Host plants are usually shrubs with most known hosts from genus Erigonum (Polygonaceae). Eggs are laid on the host plant singly. Individuals overwinter as second-stage larvae. In the Sierras there is 1 flight each year with the approximate flight time late June-Aug15, elsewhere several flights Mar.1 ? June15 in Coast Ranges, Mar1-July30 in s. Calif. (Scott 1986).
