La forcadella, l'abella, el cabut o la somera vermella[4] (Anthias anthias) és una espècie de peix de l'ordre dels perciformes i de la família dels serrànids.[5]
La seua reproducció és externa.[12] A més, és un hermafrodita successiu, el qual primer madura com a femella i més tard es transforma en mascle. Aquesta transformació no depèn només de l'edat, sinó també de l'estructura social del grup al qual pertany. Així, els peixos viuen formant un grup de femelles acompanyades del mascle dominant i, només quan aquest darrer mor, la femella de més rang es transforma en mascle.[13]

A les illes Açores és depredat per la círvia rivoliana (Seriola rivoliana)[15] i la mòllera roquera (Phycis phycis).[16]
És un peix marí, de clima subtropical (16°C-22°C, 72°N-36°N, 23°W-42°E) i associat als fons rocallosos i esculls de corall (compartint, de vegades, l'hàbitat de formes cavernícoles) fins als 300 m de fondària (normalment, entre 30 i 50).[17][18]
Es troba des de la Mediterrània[19][20][21][22][23][24][25][26][27][28][29] i Portugal (incloent-hi les illes Açores) fins a Angola i el nord de Namíbia.[30][31][32][33][34][35][36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43][44][45][46][47][48][49]
És tímid, nocturn, molt sedentari i fotòfug.[6][10] Acostuma a viure en petits grups.[13]
És comestible, però no és pescat de manera comercial.[50]

Der Mittelmeer-Fahnenbarsch (Anthias anthias, Synonym: Serranus anthias; deutsch auch „Rötling“[1]) ist eine Art der Fahnenbarsche (Anthiadidae). Trotz seines deutschen Namens lebt er nicht nur im Mittelmeer, sondern auch nahe der Küste des östlichen Atlantik von Portugal, den Azoren, Madeira, den Kanaren und die westafrikanische Küste entlang bis nach Angola.
Mittelmeer-Fahnenbarsche haben die rötliche Färbung fast aller Fahnenbarsche. Am Kopf zeigen sich, mehr oder weniger deutlich, einige gelbe Bänder. Die Schwanzflosse ist sichelförmig und tief eingeschnitten, der untere Teil ist länger als der obere. Charakteristisch sind die sehr lang ausgezogenen Bauchflossen und der verlängerte dritte Strahl der Rückenflosse der Männchen. Mittelmeer-Fahnenbarsche werden 15 bis 27 Zentimeter lang.
Die Fische halten sich in kleinen Schwärmen in Tiefen von 25 bis 300 Metern immer in der Nähe der Felsküste auf. Die Art ist sehr lichtscheu und verbringt den Tag in geringeren Tiefen in Höhlen und Unterständen. Sie ernähren sich von Zooplankton und Fischlarven.
Wie alle Sägebarsche sind die Tiere Hermaphroditen, die zunächst eine Weile als Weibchen leben, um später eine Umwandlung zum männlichen Geschlecht zu vollziehen. Die Fische leben in Haremsverbänden mit einem Männchen und mehreren Weibchen, haben aber im Gegensatz zu den tropischen Fahnenbarscharten außerhalb der Laichzeit keine festen Reviere. Aufgrund des gegenüber dem Lebensraum Korallenriff verminderten Feinddrucks im Mittelmeer wagen sich die Tiere viel weiter ins freie Wasser hinaus. Während der Fortpflanzungszeit im Sommer bilden die Männchen Reviere, die von ihnen äußerst heftig verteidigt werden. Gelaicht wird immer nur in der Abenddämmerung. Dabei schwimmt das Männchen rasch mit einem Weibchen aus seinem Territorium, die Fische drehen sich sehr schnell umeinander und geben dabei ihre Gameten ab. Anschließend schwimmen sie in ihr Revier zurück. Nun balzt das Männchen mit einem anderen Weibchen, um auch mit diesem abzulaichen.[2] Wie alle Fahnenbarsche ist Anthias anthias ein Freilaicher, der keine Brutpflege betreibt.

Anthias anthias, the swallowtail sea perch or marine goldfish, is a species of marine ray-finned fish from the grouper and sea bass family Serranidae. It is native to the eastern Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea where it is associated with reefs. It is found in the aquarium trade.
Anthias anthias has a rather deep body which has a standard length which is equivalent to 2.5 times its depth. The dorsal fin has 10 spines, with the third spine being especially long, and 15 soft rays. The anal fin has 3 spines and 7 soft rays. The pectoral fins are longer than the pelvic fins. The caudal fin has asymmetrical, pointed lobes with lower lobe being longer than the upper lobe. It has a complete lateral line which has 36-39 scales, the scales are large.[3] Their colour varies from pink through to red and they have 3 yellow lines on the sides of their heads. Frequently they can show brown blotches along the back. The pelvic fins are yellow in colour but when breeding those of the males turn red.[4] They can attain a standard length of 27 centimetres (11 in) but they are more normally around 12–18 centimetres (4.7–7.1 in).[3]
Anthias anthias is found in the eastern Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea. In the Eastern Atlantic it occurs from Portugal south to Angola and northern Namibia. It also occurs around the Azores, Madeira, Canary Islands and Cape Verde Islands and the islands in the Gulf of Guinea.[1] It is widespread in the Mediterranean and has been recorded in the Canakkale Strait off Gallipoli but not in the Black Sea.[5]
Anthias anthias occurs from 15 to 200 metres (49 to 656 ft) in depth and lives among rocks and corals, hiding in caves during the day. It emerges at night to feed on zooplankton, small crustacea and smaller fishes.[4] This species is a protogynous hermaphrodite, all individuals hatch as females. Each time a male dies, one of the larger females changes her sex and becomes male. The majority are female throughout their lives and even a large school of these fish will contain only a few males. It takes around two weeks for the female to change sex and this involves not just a change in the gonads but also in colour, size and shape. If there are too many males in a social group then some of the males can reverse the sex change and revert to being females.[6] They have been observed to co-operatively feed, some fish feed while others herd the prey, such as shrimp, the roles being reversed to allow all the fish to feed.[7]
Anthias anthias was first formally described in 1758 as Labrus anthius by Carolus Linnaeus in Volume 1 of the Xth edition of the Systema Naturae with the type locality given as southern Europe.[8] When Marcus Elieser Bloch created the genus Anthias he used Anthias sacer as the type species but this is regarded as a synonym of Linnaeus's Labrus anthias, so this species is the type species of its genus.[9] The name anthias is Greek for a fish, probably the gilt-head bream.[2]

Si trova nel Mar Mediterraneo e nell'Oceano Atlantico orientale dal Portogallo all'Angola, ci sono segnalazioni anche dalla Namibia settentrionale[1]. È molto comune nel Mediterraneo[2] ma raro nell'Adriatico[3].
Il suo habitat si trova nel piano circalitorale su fondi a coralligeno in ombra e ricchi di cavità. Si incontra fino a 200 metri di profondità, inizia ad essere comune attorno ai 30 metri. È un comune abitatore delle grotte sottomarine. Nel periodo estivo si può incontrare a profondità relativamente minori, sempre in caverne o anfratti oscuri[1][2][3][4].
Questo pesciolino è abbastanza diverso dagli altri serranidi mediterranei dato che ha una sagoma più alta e corpo compresso ai lati, con bocca relativamente piccola. Gli occhi sono grandi e la fronte leggermente arcuata. La bocca è armata di piccoli denti caniniformi. La pinna dorsale è abbastanza ampia, nei maschi il secondo e il terzo raggio spinoso portano un'appendice laminare simile a una bandierina. La pinna caudale è fortemente forcuta, il lobo inferiore è più lungo e appuntito del superiore. Le pinne ventrali sono molto allungate e molto più grandi delle pinne pettorali, nel maschio sono molto più sviluppate che nella femmina e di solito hanno una macchia gialla arancio all'estremità. Le scaglie sono presenti anche nella regione della testa. La linea laterale è molto incurvata e decorre lungo il profilo del dorso tranne che nel peduncolo caudale[2][3][4].
La livrea è appariscente: da rosso violacea ad arancio vivo con tre strisce gialle dietro l'occhio, che è circondato da un anello giallo e azzurro[2][3][4].
La lunghezza arriva a 27 cm, normalmente raggiunge i 15 cm[1].
Vive in banchi non compatti e poco dinamici. Se disturbati i banchi si rifugiano immediatamente in un anfratto[4]. Ha abitudini notturne[1].

Trata-se de um pequeno peixe, com comprimento em adulto que pode variar entre 26 e 50 cm, com barbatanas pélvicas muito desenvolvidas e manchadas de amarelo, que passa a vermelho na época de acasalamento.[1]
Os peixes desta espécie maturam inicialmente como fêmeas, transformando-se mais tarde em machos.
Sendo um peixe de comportamento bêntico, permanece escondido em buracos e fendas de rochas durante do dia, saindo à noite para procurar alimento na coluna de água.
Embora ocorram até aos 200 m de profundidade, são mais comuns em zonas costeiras e em montes submarinos com profundidades entre os 20 e os 50m.
