Erect herb or under shrub,40 -70 cm tall, leaves, opposite,petioleup to 1.5 cm long, lamina lanceolate , upper slightly linear, margin entire, base attenuate, apex acute, veins 3-4 pairs, panicle up to 15 cm long, branches zig zag, flowers 1.5 - 2 cm apart, pedicel to0.7 cm long, bracts lanceolate, 0.3 cm, bracteoles 2, calyx lobes 5, sparsely glandular hairy, acute, corolla white with pink tinge, 5 x 2.5 mmtube 5 mm, glandular hairy with out, upper lip 6 mm deeply bifid, lower lip 6 mm, stamens 2 to 4 mm, bearded, anther obovoid, ovary oblong, 1.5 mm, puberulous, style 1 cm, sparsely hairy, capsule oblong compressed, acute 2 cm long, 3 mm wide, seeds pale brown, 2mm long, sub cylindric.

The herb is often grown near houses as a snake repellent.
