Ionoxalis magnifica Rose, sp. nov Plants 15-40 cm. tall, the bulb-scales several-ribbed ; leaves fully one half as tall as the scape or less, the petioles finely pubescent ; leaflets mostly 7 or S, the blades cuneate, 2.5-4 cm. long, truncate or abruptly short-pointed, deep-green above, slightly paler beneath, usually with scattered hairs on both sides ; scapes glabrous ; cymes mostly 12-24-flowered ; pedicels 1.5-2.5 cm. long, glabrous or finely pubescent under the calyx ; sepals linear-lanceolate to narrowly lanceolate, 5-6 mm. long, pubescent, each bearing 4, usually long and irregular, more or less confluent apical tubercles ; petals dark-purple, 17-27 mm. long ; shorter and longer filaments glabrous, the latter appendaged on the back ; styles pubescent ; capsules slender, about 1 cm. long.
Type collected at Alturas de Matatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico, June 19-23, 1906, C. Conzatti 1491. Distribution : Oaxaca.

Ionoxalis oaxacana Rose, sp. nov Plants about 3 dm. tall, the bulb-scales several-ribbed ; leaves about one half as tall as the scape, the petioles glabrous; leaflets mostly 5, the blades 2.5-4 cm. long, cuneate, retuse at the apex and consequently shallowly 2-lobed, bright-green above an.d only slightly paler beneath, glabrous except for few hairs at the base and sometimes minute hairs on the midrib beneath; scape glabrous; cymes 6-7-flowered ; pedicels 2.5-4.5 cm. long, glabrous; sepals narrowly oblong to narrowly linear, 5-5.5 mm. long, glabrous or with few minute hairs at the apex, each bearing 2 narrow apical tubercles ; petals violet, 18-22 mm. long ; shorter and longer filaments sparingly pubescent above, the latter each with a prominent appendage near the base.
Type collected at Cuicatlan, Oaxaca, Mexico, August 13, 1895, L. C. Smith 6S8. Distribution : Known only from the type locality.
