Colonies. Growth occurring between 25 and 55°C. At 40°C colonies fill a Petri plate of YpSs within 4 days producing numerous superficial ascomaya, often forming a vinaceous to reddish brown crusty mass; initials comprising simple coiled hyphae. Conidiophores. Erect, arising more commonly from aerial hyphae, colourless, smooth-walled, 50-300 × 5-7 μm;, apical parts irregularly branched and bearing terminal verticils of 2-4 conidiogenous cells, usually without any metulae. Conidiogenous cells solitary or irregularly verticillate, cylindrical, 12-30 × 3-6 μm. Conidia. Fairly abundant, colourless to greyish yellow, not affecting colony colour, ovoid to subglobose, formed in long divergent or tangled chains, continuous, cylindrical to elliptical, 4.5-11 × 3-4 μm. Ascomata. Cleistothecial, superficial, subglobose, orange-brown, 250-550 μm wide. Asci. Borne singly on croziers, scattered in the ascomatal cavity, 8-spored, ovate, 14-18 × 11-15 μm, evanescent. Ascospores. Single celled, ellipsoid to ovoid, yellowish to pale reddish orange, 6.0-8.5 × 4.0-5.5 μm, thick-walled and nearly smooth.
