Gill openings located far back near the anal fin origin (Ref. 4538).Description: Characterized by having shades of mottled brown color; unbranched pelvic rays; illicium about twice as long as second dorsal spine, 3.7-5.0 in SL; tuft of slender filaments from fleshy base, esca; straight second dorsal spine and not broadly connected to head with membrane; straight to slightly curved third dorsal spine, 3.9-5.3 in SL; dorsal and anal fins ending at base of caudal fin; no caudal peduncle (Ref. 90102).
