Discovered while night driving other animals spotted that night include Bufo punctatus, Callisaurus draconoides, Masticophis bilineatus (DOR), Hypsiglena torquata, and Crotalus atrox. Following day at Burrow Creek (BLM) Campground wildlife spotted include Callisaurus draconoides, (possibly) Cophosaurus texanus), Sceloporus magister, Uta stansburiana, Urosaurus ornatus, Aspidoscelis tigris, and on State Hwy. 93 North of Wikieup Crotalus scutulatus (DOR).

After attempting a futile escape to shrubs bordering highway, this healthy snake curled into a tight coil on its back with head held in the center, expelled musk and blood from its cloacal region and smeared it over most of its own body, exhibiting an elaborate behavior of playing dead.
