Males 30-33 mm, one female 38 mm. Back brown with variable patterns of lighter yellowish spots, mainly behind the eyes and dorsilateral folds. Ventral surface is yellowish. Skin smooth. Nostrils nearer to tip of snout than to eye. Tympanum distinct, about 1/2 of eye size. Tibiotarsal articulation reaches the eye. Lateral metatarsalia connected. Webbing of the hand rudimentary; webbing of the foot 1(1), 2i(1.5), 2e(1), 3i(2), 3e(1), 4i/e(2.5), 5(1). Males with distinct oblong femoral glands. Similar species: Other species of the subgenus Pandanusicola differ by the diameter of tympanum or colouration. M. liber has larger hands and feet.Taken with permission from Glaw and Vences (2007).

Andasibe, Torotorofotsy, south of Moramanga. It occurs between sea level and 1,000m asl in pristine rainforest, swamp forest, and littoral forest. It is often found in the axils of screw pines (Pandanus spp.) (Raxworthy and Vallan 2008).
