Widely distributed throughout the south-west zone of Western Australia. South from Kalbarri to Mt Ragged.The extent of occurrence of the species is approximately 407400 km2

Wet and dry sclerophyll forest and inundated grassy areas. Usually found in moist areas under rocks, logs, dead grass and debris.Breeds in late summer, autumn and early winter. Eggs are deposited on damp soil in tunnels and an adult usually remains with the eggs. Tadpoles emerge at an advanced stage of development when the tunnels are flooded. Development is 3 – 7 months.
