Stellaria patens is close relative of Stellaria lanata, but differs from the latter in its plant long filiform hariy (vs. densely white woolly), petals nearly as long as sepals (vs. shorter than sepals), stamen 10 (vs. 8), capsules shorter than persistent sepals (vs. 2 times longer than persistent sepals).
Stellaria patens is occurring in Xizang of China, Bhutan, India, Kashmir, Nepal, Sikkim.
Herbs diffuse, with long, white filiform hairs. Stems yellow, 10-40 cm long, slender, shiny, with long filiform hairs, basally glabrous. Leaves sessile, linear or linear-lanceolate, 1.5-3 cm long, 1.5-5 mm wide, midvein conspicuously raised, both surfaces with long filiform hairs, base broadly cuneate, apex acute or acuminate. Flowers few to numerous, in dichotomous cymes; bracts ovate-lanceolate, with long filiform hairs, margin broadly membranous, apex acute. Pedicel 6-12 mm long, with dense long filiform hairs. Sepals 5, ovate-lanceolate or lanceolate, outside with white filiform hairs, 3-veined, margin narrowly membranous, apex acute. Petals 5, shorter than or subequaling sepals, 2-cleft to base; lobes narrowly ovate. Stamens 10, subequaling petals. Ovary ovoid-orbicular; styles 3, linear. Capsules yellow, narrowly ovoid, shorter than persistent sepals, 6-valved. Seeds brown, reniform to suborbicular, granulose.
Growing in forests, forests margins; 2000-2600 m.
