Salvia palaestina is a sub-endemic perennial species to Israel and the Palestinian Territory. It has whitish-pinkish bracts that accompany the flowers. Unlike most other Mediterranean herbaceous plants, it is blooming in June-July. It is has a beautiful inflorescence resembling a bit the more famous Salvia sclarea. It is postulated that the branched inflorescence of of Salvias and Verbascums gave ithe inspiration to the Jewish Menora symbol.
