Endemic to Kauai and endangered. This species is part of the Silversword Alliance - 50+ species, subspecies, variations and hybrids which radiated in Hawaii from a single north American ancestor. This species is rare with only 100-200 individuals remaining (USFWS, 2008, 5 Year Review). This marginal photo shows the liana/vine like nature of this species.
