صورة Barthelona vulgaris Bernard, Simpson & Patterson 2000

الوصف:

Barthelona vulgaris Bernard et al., 2000. Cells are 6 to 8 microns long, oval and flattened. Two flagella insert subapically and laterally, at about 60 degrees to each other. The anterior flagellum is one to two times the length of the body. The posteriorly-directed flagellum is three to five times the length of the body and slightly acronematic. A J-shaped cytoskeletal element originates from the flagellar insertion and continues posteriorly, loosely following the margin of the cell. This element results in the appearance of a flattened margin on one side and especially to the posterior portion of the cell. The nucleus is located anteriorly. The cells usually contain refractile granules. The cells can swim or, more rarely, glide slowly. The flagella beat with a gentle undulation in stationary cells.
