الوصف:

Description: English: Nsafu - safoutier - butterfruit - African pear/plum. After softening in hot water, the edible dark bluish-purple skin and green pulp easily slip off the center kernel. Can also be grilled gently over heat for a few minutes After this short preparation, skin and green pulp/flesh are eaten warm, often described as soft as butter, slightly tangy, the smoothness, taste, color and texture are similar to avocado. Also commonly added whole to popular sauces, but at the end of cooking to soften when the sauces are taken off the heat. Servings are usually not more than one or two per meal as this fruit has a reputation for causing drowsiness. Whole fresh fruit shown measured at 7 cm in length, warmed and softened sample showing green pulp measured approximately 8 cm before swelling slightly in water. Date: 11 February 2016.
