It grows in patches, from 20 to 120 cm tall, and blooms from June through August. It produces plentiful hips after flowering, which have both nutritional and medicinal purposes. The hips contain clusters of hard seeds, which themselves are of little nutritional value and if consumed, can result in a condition known as "itchy bottom." Rose hips make excellent wine, jelly, syrup, and tea, and are a good source of wintertime nutrition. 2004 D. Windrim Captioned As {}. Date: 31 July 2004 (original upload date).
