Sungai Buloh, Selangor, Malaysia.Ardisia crenata Sims. Primulaceae, also placed in Myrsinaceae. CN: [Malay - Buah mata ayam], Coralberry, Coralberry-tree, Coralbush, Hen's-eyes, Spiceberry. Native to China, Japan, Taiwan, India, Indo-China, Malesia (Malaysia, Philippines); elsewhere naturalized and cultivated as ornamental. A compact shrub that reaches ca 1 m, often with a single stem. Leaves are dark green, thick, glossy, and have tightly waved edges The flowers are small, white or reddish, fragrant, and form clusters. The fruit is a glossy, bright red drupe. Fruits and shoots edible and eaten by natives.
