Achaearanea

Achaearanea is a genus of comb-footed spiders that was first described by Embrik Strand in 1929.^[2]

It used to include the extremely abundant common house spider, which was transferred to genus Parasteatoda in 2006, together with many other species. A. veruculata and many more species were moved to genus Cryptachaea in 2008. Others were moved to the revived Henziectypus. The genus was thus reduced from about 150 species to about 22 species during major revisions.^[3] Possibly even more species should be transferred to other genera.^[4]

Description

This genus includes small and large theridiids. The legs are medium long, with spines and usually many hairs. Their web is an irregular network of threads, usually in a sheltered place.^[5]

Distribution

Species are found around the world, with several species from South America, China and Korea, India, Australia and Africa. Some species are endemic to several small islands.^[3]

Achaearanea es un género de arañas de la familia Theridiidae.

Descripción

Este género se utiliza comúnmente para incluir a la araña común de la casa (Parasteatoda tepidariorum), que fue trasladada al género Parasteatoda en el 2006 junto con otras especies. A. veruculata y otras especies fueron trasladadas al género Cryptachaea en el 2008, otras al género Henziectypus. El género se redujo de alrededor de 150 especies a solo 30.

Taxonomía

Este género incluye grandes y pequeños terídidos. Las patas son de medianas a largas, con espinas y pelos. La telaraña es una red de hilos irregulares, por lo general protegida.

Distribución

Esta especie se encuentra en todo el mundo. Con varias especies en América del Sur, China y Corea, India, Australia y África. Algunas especies son endémicas en varias pequeñas islas

Achaearanea, Theridiidae familyasından 31 türü olan, Güney Amerika, Çin, Kore, Hindistan, Avustralya ve Afrika'da yayılan bir örümcek cinsidir. Tipi Achaearanea trapezoidalis türüdür.

Daha önce bu cins altında sınıflandırılan kimi türler Cryptachaea, Parasteatoda gibi başka cinslere aktarılmıştır. Türkiye'de bulunan ve önceden Achaearanea riparia olarak sınıflandırılan türün günümüzdeki geçerli adı Cryptachaea riparia olarak verilmektedir.
