Disocactus macranthus ist eine Pflanzenart aus der Gattung Disocactus in der Familie der Kakteengewächse (Cactaceae). Das Artepitheton macranthus bedeutet ‚mit großen, langen Blumen‘.[1]
Disocactus macranthus wächst reich verzweigt mit übergebogenen Trieben, welche basal drehrund darüber abgeflacht und blattartig zur Spitze verjüngend sind. Sie werden bis 90 Zentimeter lang und 4,5 Zentimeter breit, sind hellgrün und an den Rändern gekerbt. Die Areolen sind klein und unbedornt.
Die Blüten sind nahe der Triebspitzen. Sie sind 4 bis 6 Zentimeter lang und etwa 3 Zentimeter im Durchmesser groß mit schlanker Röhre und weit ausgebreiteten Perianthsegmenten, die innen hell zitronengelb und außen etwas dunkler sind. Sie duften intensiv. Die kugelig roten Früchte werden 0,7 bis 0,8 Zentimeter lang.
Disocactus macranthus ist in den mexikanischen Bundesstaaten Oaxaca, Chiapas und Veracruz zwischen 830 und 1900 Metern Höhe verbreitet.
Die Erstbeschreibung als Pseudorhipsalis macrantha erfolgte 1942 durch Edward Johnston Alexander.[2] Myron William Kimnach und Paul Clifford Hutchison (1924–1997) stellten die Art 1957 in die Gattung Disocactus.[3] Ein weiteres nomenklatorisches Synonym ist Disisorhipsalis macrantha (Alexander) Doweld (2002, nom. inval. ICBN-Artikel 33.3).
In der Roten Liste gefährdeter Arten der IUCN wird die Art als „Least Concern (LC)“, d. h. als nicht gefährdet geführt.[4]

Las flores están cerca de la punta de los brotes y miden 15 cm de largo, son de color amarillo brillante en el interior y un poco más oscuras en el exterior. El fruto de 2 cm de largo, de forma esférica y color rojo.[2][4]
Esta especie llega a ser usada como planta ornamental.[1]
Endémica de los estados de Oaxaca, Chiapas y Veracruz en México.[2][1]
Habita bosques mesófilos de montaña y bosques de encino (Quercus), en elevaciones de 800 a 1900 msnm.[1]
Las principales amenazas para la especie son la degradación de hábitat a causa de actividades económicas como el cultivo de café y pasturas, al igual que la fragmentación natural de los bosques mesófilos de montaña, no obstante las poblaciones de D. macranthus son abundantes.[1]
Poblaciones de esta especie se distribuyen dentro de la Reserva de la Biosfera Los Tuxtlas.[1]

Disocactus macranthus (Alexander) Kimnach & Hutchison – gatunek rośliny z rodziny kaktusowatych (Cactaceae Juss). Występuje naturalnie w meksykańskich stanach Oaxaca[3], Veracruz oraz Chiapas[4]. Uważa się, że rośnie także w Gwatemali, jednak jego występowanie w tym kraju musi zostać zweryfikowane[4].
Rośnie w górskich lasach oraz w lasach dębowych. Występuje na wysokości od 800 do 1900 m n.p.m.[4]
W Czerwonej księdze gatunków zagrożonych został zaliczony do kategorii LC – gatunków najmniejszej troski. Został przypisany do tej kategorii, ponieważ ma szeroki zakres występowania i jest relatywnie często spotykany. Tylko w części jego zasięgu z powodów naturalnych lub antropogenicznych jego siedliska uległy fragmentacji. Gatunek jest obecny na terenie podlegających ochronie w Los Tuxtlas Biosphere Reserve[4].
