Stem c. 30 cm, trigonous, distally scabrous along edges. Leaf sheaths long; blades 4-5 mm wide, blue-green, margins scabrous. Inflorescence of 2-3 androgynous, remote spikes; spikes long-peduncled; glumes ovate, acute. Utricles longer than glumes, lateral nerves scabrous (”subtiliter ciliatis”), distal part dark brown; beak bidentate. Stigmas 3.
