With its wings closed (see inset), this butterfly became very difficult to spot at much of a distance, blending right into the bark of this tree. The butterfly seems to be a fairly good match for a Satyr Comma, Polygonia satyrus, mostly brown-toned below, two black spots on the inner margin of the forewing, black spot in the middle of the hindwing with a silver comma at the middle.Aug. 25, 2015, Salt Lake County, Millcreek, Utah, elev. approx. 4300 ft.
