Adonis aestivalis is a common annual in the arid semideserts and steppes of the Middle East. In Israel it is endangered and very rare.

This desert annual is common in the deserts of Israel. It the cutest little plant.

Adonis dentata is a nice desert annual. In S Israel it is very common.

Adonis microcarpa is another common Mediterranean annial. Sometimes it appears in carpets, like here.

Adonis palaestina is a subendemic species in Israel. It is an annual with rather large red flowers. I found it hard to photograph, especially in bright sun. This specimen has a relatively large black centred flowers.

It is peak spring and many flowers occur everywhere in Israel. Here u can see Adonis palaestina in red with Linum pubescens.

nice perennial with large yellow flowers. This is the shy fruit.
