Pycnia epiphyllous, gregarious, in small crowded groups 0.5-1 mm. across, papillose, noticeable, subcuticular, becoming blackish, flattened-hemispherical, 80-120 /* broad,
one-third as high.
Uredinia amphigenous, irregulariy scattered, round, small, 0.1-0.2 mm. across, early naked, pulverulent, light cinnamon-brown, ruptured epidermis not noticeable ; urediniospores broadly fusiformellipsoid, 23-29 by 30-40^, obtuse to acute at both ends; wall golden-brown, somewhat semihyaline both at apex and below, thick, 3-4 //, thicker above, 5-8 u verrucose, with low tubercles thickly set in close, rather evident, longitudinal rows, pores small, 3, equatorial.
