Polygala amphothrix Blake, Contr. Gray Herb. 47: 39. 1916. Stems few, 1-1.5 dm. high, densely pubescent with short incurved and numerous longer straight wide-spreading hairs; lowest leaves strongly reduced, oval or oval-oblong, 3.5-1 1.5 mm. long, the middle and upper oblong-lanceolate or oval, 1.5-3.6 cm. long, 4.5-16 mm. wide, obtuse or subacute, at base cuneate, reticulate, pubescent like the stem; racemes 4-7.5 cm. long; flowers purplish; sepals ovate-lanceolate, acuminate; wings oval, 5-5.5 mm. long, 3-3.5 mm. wide, rounded at apex, broadly cuneate at base, ciliolate, sparsely puberulous along costa; keel greenish-yellow, equaling wings; ovary densely pilosulous; fruit and seed unknown.
Type locality: Otinapa, Durango. Distribution: Durango and Tepic.
