Ceropegia daverichardsii Bruyns

richardsii: named after Dave Richards, fellow of the Aloe Cactus and Succulent Society of Zimbabwe and personal friend of the discoverer.

Perennial herb with a simple annual stem growing from a tuber. Leaves opposite, narrowly lanceolate, 30-100 × 6-18 mm, pilose; margin entire. Flowers in axillary cluster of up to 8, no noticeable scent. Corolla lobes 8-15 mm long, linear, hairless, red to yellowish red mottled inside with fine white hairs near the base, outside green. Corona purple-red; outer lobes cup-shaped with 5 nectar pouches, yellow with red dots on the inside; inner lobes purple-red as long as the staminal column.The species is closely related to B. dinteri but B. richardsii has much longer and thinner corolla lobes; a raised cup-shaped outer corona and white hairs at the base of the corolla lobes.

Zimbabwe; distribution probably extending from Kadoma to Kariba.
